24th Annual Pet Cat Show and Homing day round-up
12 March 2018
The Ely branch of Cats Protection held their 24th Annual Pet Cat Show and Homing day on Saturday 10th March at Little Downham Village Hall.
30 cats and kittens competed in the show which was judged by the experienced trio of Irene Roos, Barbara James and Niki Hill. The cats, whether Pedigree or Non-pedigree, were judged on temperament, personality and condition.
The Best in Show Pedigree Pet was kitten Emmie who was making her show debut. Emmie lives with her owners in Haddenham.

A referee judge was required to decide the Best in Show Non-Pedigree, as the three judges each picked a different winner from the all tabby line-up! For the second year running, the winner was local cat Charlie who was adopted from the branch as a kitten in 2016.

In addition to the pampered pets on show, the event also featured a homing section. Six cats found their new families at the event, but there are still a number of cats in the branch’s care that are proving difficult to home. Romeo and Kizzie are an older pair who are seeking a loving, quiet home to live out their twilight years.

The event once again proved popular with the public, who enjoyed meeting the cats in the show and the homing section, were able to buy lots of cat related items and quality bric a brac, and enjoyed refreshments organised by the Ely CP committee. The event raised nearly £1000 which will be used to help the branch care for more cats in the coming months.
